I Applied to Transfer, What’s Next?

Completing the transfer process can be an overwhelming process. Below are the steps needed to complete your transfer and ensure a smooth transition to the university. Stay up to date on all the important deadlines!

DECEMBER

Congratulations on applying for transfer!

The campuses will stay in touch with you via email for now. You can expect to receive an acknowledgement email within a few weeks of submitting your application. These emails will provide details on how to activate your portals and obtain your student ID number for the campuses you applied to.

1. Did you not receive an email? Please check your spam folder and carefully review each email you receive from the campus.

2. Apply for FAFSA or the California Dream Act:

Apply for FAFSA or the DREAM Act and submit this application by the priority deadline, April 2, 2024.

3. Are you receiving an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T)?

Apply for your degree (this application also includes commencement) through your Chaffey portal →Self Service Registration →Graduation Overview.
Deadline to apply February 9, 2024.

JANUARY

APPLICATION UPDATE DEADLINE
JANUARY 31ST

Update your CSU and UC applications to include your fall grades and to confirm or make an changes to your spring semester. You'll also have the chance to make updates regarding repeated courses and academic renewals.Updates are due by January 31. Make sure to keep checking your emails and portals from the campuses for any updates or deadlines.

Meet with a Counselor in case there’s been any unexpected changes to your fall/spring semester(s). We want to ensure you are still meeting the transfer requirements.
Connect with the Transfer Center to find out if there are any upcoming campus tours. This will help you better connect with the universities you applied to.

Is your campus requiring a Supplementary Application?
Some CSUs, such as CSULB, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, San Jose State and certain nursing programs, may require you to submit a Supplemental Application. Failure to submit the required supplemental application will have an impact on your admissions.

FEBRUARY

Check your Cal State portals for any requests for Official College Transcripts. Occasionally, they might request "partial" transcripts which are still official transcripts. "Partial" simply means that you are still attending Chaffey.

Did you attend multiple colleges?

If you attended any college besides Chaffey, you must submit those transcripts to the university as well. Those transcripts must be requested directly from your previous colleges.

Do you have AP scores?

If you have included AP scores in the application, the university will request them. You must send the scores directly from College Board to the university. Failure to do so may impact your admissions.

Were you denied admission from the campus you applied to?

Some universities may give you the opportunity to appeal your denial. Typically, the appeal instructions will be in the denial email.
If you decide to submit an appeal, most universities give you less than 15 business days to do so. Appeals usually consist of completing an online form and uploading documents (like unofficial transcripts).

Have you been admitted?

You must accept a CSU by May 1or a UC by June 1by paying for the deposit. This can be called a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD), etc. Terms and deposits vary depending on the campus. Refer to your university portal.
Sign up for a summer orientation with the campus you will be attending to help you register for upcoming classes in the next school year.
Make sure to keep checking your To Do List in the university portal(s) and to check your emails.

APRIL

FAFSA DEADLINE
APRIL 2nd

Complete and submit your FAFSA or DREAM Act by April 2, the priority application deadline.

MAY

You must accept a CSU by May 1by paying for the deposit. This can be called a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD), etc. Terms and deposits vary depending on campus.

JUNE

INTENT TO REGISTER
UC DEADLINE JUNE 1ST

You must accept a UC by June 1by paying for the deposit. This can be called a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD), etc. Terms and deposits vary depending on campus.

JULY

Has the university asked for Final Transcripts?

Most campuses want the final transcripts sent over by July. Dates vary depending on campus.
Before you request your transcripts, please make sure your spring grades are posted and your degree has been awarded.
When you order your official transcripts, make sure to select the “CSU GE Certification” or “IGETC GE Certification” to be attached to the transcripts. This will ensure you are meeting the lower-division general education requirements.
If you are taking a summer course, you must send final transcripts again after your summer grades have been posted.
