Volunteer as a Mentor

The Chaffey College UndocuSuccess Fellowship program is a unique learning opportunity for our undocumented students. We appreciate your interest in learning more about the process of becoming a volunteer mentor to host a student at your site. Fellowship students will receive a stipend through the office of Student Life, Equity and Engagement.

Our hopes are to pair students with mentors that will not only support students while they complete their academic goals but will also contribute to the foundation of their future aspirations. Once you have completed the application our team will work on pairing you with a student who is in search of the type of experience you will be providing. The opportunity to become a volunteer mentor is available to all full-time employees, including classified professionals, faculty, and managers. Faculty are asked to schedule the weekly mentoring hours with students during their office hours.

*Note: If any projects are assigned to the students, they must be non-bargaining union member work.

Looking for other ways to volunteer?

We recognize that some employees may not be able to commit to a mentorship role but would like to still help in other ways. Here are some opportunities for employees to contribute to supporting this student community:

  • Serve as a guest speaker at a campus event for this student population.
  • Find opportunities to share your real-world experience and practical knowledge with students.
  • Help identify students who would benefit from the Fellowship.
  • Connect students to networking opportunities.

Please note: becoming a mentor is voluntary and is not a compensated position.
