Frequently Asked Questions
- Students who meet AB 540 requirements may participate in the fellowship program under specific conditions:
- If you have applied for the CA Dream Act and received any state or institutional aid (e.g., Cal Grant A, B, or C, Chaffee Grant, Promise Grant), you are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.
- However, if you applied for the CA Dream Act but did not qualify for or receive any aid, you are eligible to participate in the fellowship.
- Yes, students can be a part of both programs during their time as students at Chaffey College. Students are not allowed to participate in these programs concurrently.
- Unfortunately, students are not eligible to participate in the fellowship if they hold an F Student Visa or a B-1 Tourist/B-2 Business Visa.
- Students are required to participate in the fellowship for two semesters beginning in the fall of each academic year.
- Students are required to be enrolled students to receive fellowship stipend. If you graduate or un-enroll, your UndocuSuccess Fellowship assignment will end.
- If the student or host/mentor wishes to discontinue the fellowship opportunity, please contact Albert.Rodriguez@chaffey.edu for guidance and support on how to move forward. We ask both hosts and fellows not to terminate their commitments without first communicating with the CCSJ.
If students have already identified a host department/mentor, they should do the following:
- Apply to be a fellow in the UndocuSuccess Fellowship and indicate that they have an identified mentor in the application area that asks for any department preferences.
- Ask their potential mentor to submit an application and list the student as a potential fellow.
- Mentors are responsible for working with the student to develop a schedule. We require that mentor & mentees establish clear expectations at the beginning of the fellowship.
- Volunteer mentors will not receive compensation.
