Chaffey College Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
The sound of a violins, guitars and a trumpet echoed through the quad as students lined up for funnel cake, taquitos and more during Chaffey College’s Hispanic Heritage Month kickoff event Sept. 16.
Mariachi Bohemio took the stage while the campus community lined up for food and information booths.
“I’m here because this represents my culture,” said Ashley Sanchez, a business administration and marketing major.
Sanchez’s boyfriend, Jasen Cruz, who is Filipino, said he has learned a lot more about Latino culture from Sanchez. He appreciates Chaffey holding a celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month.
“It’s beautiful to show diversity and all ethnicities,” he said. “It brings people together.”
Sociology major Jimmy Mendez also appreciated Chaffey’s dedication to diversity through on-campus celebrations. He came to celebrate his heritage with friends and classmates.
