Working Together
The College held a town hall in June 2021 to brainstorm the MacKenzie Scott gift. Many have already been implemented or are in progress, without using MacKenzie Scott gift funds.
- Conducting Equity Audits: This was completed via a Campus Climate Survey of students, faculty, and staff, and a more recent LGBTQIA+ Student Survey was conducted in the spring of 2024.
- Investing to Support Students in High-Priority SCFF Categories: The College has provided additional positions and funding to support Dual Enrollment efforts and the Rising Scholars Program.
- Hitting Poverty Hard: Using HEERF funding, the College disseminated more than $40 million to needy students over three years.
- Improving Accessibility Measures in Virtual Formats: The College has developed and purchased training and software support and established best practices in these areas.
- Redeploying the Chaffey College Mobile APP: The APP was launched in the summer of 2024 and will help connect students with resources.
- Expanding Spaces for Special Populations: The College established PRISM, an undocumented and LGBTQIA+ resource space, and the Center for Culture and Social Justice (CCSJ) was recently relocated to a larger, more centralized space at the Rancho Cucamonga campus.
- Increasing Mental Health Services: To meet the increased mental health needs of our students, the College currently has two full-time mental health managers, one support staff position, and mental health interns.
- Supporting Self-Employed Students: Through the College's entrepreneurial program, annual student entrepreneur competitions are held, which give students opportunities to develop business pitches to solve community problems.
- Offering Free Printing to Students: The College has several locations throughout campus, including the CCSJ and the Library, that offer free printing services for students.
- Providing Water Hydration Stations: The College has installed water hydration stations at all campuses.
The Chaffey College Trust Advisory Group
An advisory group will be formed in fall 2024 to meet regarding the Chaffey College Trust. This group will provide information transparently to Chaffey College's campus community and community at large, with representation from a variety of constituents. This advisory group will help us work more collaboratively in the future uses of the Trust.
Advisory members will include students, faculty, staff, and community members from the District. The advisory group will review suggestions for trust funding uses, review research, share perspectives, and discuss future funding opportunities. Recommendations from the advisory group will be provided to the Superintendent/President and Executive Team.
