Processes to Apply for CPL

Starting Point:

If you have not done so, please apply to Chaffey College.

• During the application process, please select your area of study.

Depending upon the method of CPL you would like to apply for, please follow the corresponding instructions:

1. For AP, IB, CLEP credit:

   1. Provide Admissions and Records with official transcripts for AP, IB, and/or CLEP.
   2. Complete the Credit for Prior Learning Student Request Form.
   3. Students will receive a confirmation email after submitting the form.

2. For Military Credit:

   Please complete the Military Credit Request Form.
   1. For additional questions on Military Credit, please visit and contact the Chaffey Veterans Resource Center
   2. Submit your official transcripts to Admissions and Records

3. For Credit by Examination:

   Please complete the Credit by Examination Form with the Admissions and Records Office. Students can request the form from the Admissions Office through our virtual line during office hours or from the appropriate department office.
   1. Please note there is a $25 dollar Credit by Examination fee.
   2. Students are encouraged to meet with the faculty before initiating the petition form.

4. For these other methods of CPL:

   1. Industry Training/Industry Credentials
   2. Student-created Portfolios
   3. State/federal Government Training
   4. Apprenticeships, internships, work-based learning, or other industry-based experiential learning
   5. Validated volunteer and civic activities (e.g. Peace Corps)
