Chaffey College values the skills and knowledge you have acquired throughout your journey. With Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), you can receive course credit for validated college-level skills, knowledge, and experiences gained outside of the college classroom!
Knowledge and skills can be demonstrated through the following ways:
- Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Tests
- College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Exams
- Institutional Assessment/Evaluation
- Military Training/Joint Services Transcripts/DANTES/DSST
- Industry Training/Industry Credentials
- Student-created Portfolios
- State/federal Government Training
- Apprenticeships, internships, work-based learning, or other industry-based experiential learning
- Validated volunteer and civic activities (e.g. Peace Corps)
- High School Articulation
What is Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)?
- Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is college credit awarded for validated college-level skills and knowledge gained outside of a college classroom. Credit for prior learning may be earned for eligible courses as approved by the faculty.
- Authorized assessments may include the evaluation of approved external standardized examinations, military service/training, the evaluation of industry recognized credentials, student-created portfolios, and institutional assessment/evaluation.
