Applications will be accepted February 1st – 28th, 2025 for the PTA program starting Spring (May) 2025.

Application Process & Required Documents

Selection Process

Students that are deemed eligible to apply will be placed in one of the following tiered categories. Applications will then be randomly selected for acceptance into the PTA. Please use the PTA program prerequisites Advising Check Sheet located below and/or meet with a Chaffey College Counselor for more information.

Tier 1: BIOL 20 Human Anatomy and BIOL 22 Human Physiology or equivalents are completed with a 3.0 GPA or higher within the past 10 years recency, and the additional program prerequisites are completed with a minimum of a 2.8 GPA.

Tier 2: BIOL 20 Human Anatomy and BIOL 22 Human Physiology or equivalents are completed with a 2.0 GPA or higher within the past 10 years recency, and the additional program prerequisites are completed with a minimum of a 2.8 GPA.

Tier 3: BIOL 20 Human Anatomy and BIOL 22 Human Physiology or equivalents are completed with a 2.0 GPA or higher within the past 10 years recency, and the additional program prerequisites are completed with a minimum 2.8 GPA with some coursework in-progress at the time of application.

After the application period

  • Randomly selected applicants will receive information via email by the first week of March regarding required attendance to a mandatory Information Session in March/April.
  • Applicants that are not selected will receive notification via email by the third week of March. Emails will be sent to the email address provided on your application. *If you do not receive any information about your ranking by the third week of March, contact the PTA program at pta@chaffey.edu.

Public Notification of Accreditation

Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone; 703-706-3245; accreditation@apta.org is necessary for eligibility to sit for the licensure examination, which is required in all states.

Effective October 31, 2023, Chaffey College has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.
