On Campus Employers

The CalWORKs Work Study Program is an opportunity for departments to hire work study students with 75% of the student's wage paid by the CalWORKs work study program and remaining 25% paid by Federal Work Study or the hiring department. For students receiving Federal Work Study, this allows a student's federal work study grant to receive minimal use, essentially stretching the grant, most times allowing it to last throughout the fiscal year.

What are the benefits of CalWORKs Work-Study?

  • 75% of the student’s wage is paid by CalWORKs, the other 25% is covered by Federal Work Study or the hiring department.
  • CalWORKs Work Study students receive Work Study Readiness counseling sessions to prepare for Work Study positions.
  • We focus on developing a student’s employability skills through the ACES framework.
  • Students are required to participate in a Work Experience learning class.
  • An excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable, hands-on experience, while still participating in an educational training program.
