All Campus Closure Due to High Winds
January 7, 2025
Dear Campus Community,
The District has been closely monitoring and preparing for a predicted wind event that could significantly impact our region during the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, through late afternoon of Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The wind event is being described by experts as having the potential to be “life-threatening and destructive.” Many surrounding areas have already been impacted by significant wind damage with Public Safety Power Shutdown (PSPS) power outages for related disruptions.
In an effort to ensure safety for all employees prior to the predicted wind event, a decision has been made to close all campuses, including the InTech Center, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. and will remain closed through Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Remote services will also be unavailable during this time. All campuses will resume normal in-person operations on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Campus police, along with designated maintenance crews, will remain on campus during the wind event to monitor conditions and respond to any reports of wind related damage or safety concerns. Additionally, the Rancho Campus library will remain open until noon today, as a waiting zone for anybody who needs time to coordinate transportation.
IT staff will need to check with their supervisor before any release from campus.
Thank you,
Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
