Upholding the California Dream for all students
December 9, 2024
Dear Students:
The 2025-2026 financial aid cycle has begun, and with this comes numerous concerns – particularly for students whose families have mixed immigration status. Chaffey College wishes to affirm its commitment to providing an education to all of its students – including those who are DACA, undocumented or with family members who are undocumented.
What do you need to know?
- Information provided on the California Dream Act Application is only used to determine eligibility for state financial aid. It is never shared with the federal government or used for immigration enforcement.
- For new FAFSA applicants, personal information shared through the application does not have the same data privacy assurances as in years past.
- The California Dream Act Application is a viable option for families fearing adverse action by federal immigration enforcement.
At Chaffey College, we believe in upholding the California Dream for all students, so we will do everything we can to provide accurate information to students and their families, offer all options for aid and ensure that all students can enroll at Chaffey.
If you have questions or concerns about filling out the FAFSA or California Dream Act applications, please sign up for one of our weekly financial aid Zoom sessions:
- 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in BE-100
- 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays via Zoom
Thank you,
Patricia Bopko
