Workforce & Economic Development Realignment Update

During the past few weeks, the Executive Team reviewed work plans, examined staffing, engaged a workforce consultant, and met with stakeholders to realign the College’s Workforce Innovations and Entrepreneurial Development (WIED) Department. While we continue to complete the programmatic and budgeting review, several changes are taking effect immediately. Highlights include the following:

The name of the area overseeing Contract Education and Customized Training, InTech, Voc Ed, and related departments will now be Workforce & Economic Development (WED). It will be under the supervision of Associate Superintendent Lisa Bailey.

Due to predicted budget cuts and to streamline our work, the District will not renew the Associate Superintendent position for this area.

Interim Director of Workforce Development Laura Alvarado and Interim Director of Strategic Projects Preethi Talwar will remain at InTech, where they will lead their respective areas.

Interim Associate Superintendent of Instruction and Institutional Effectiveness Misty Burruel will oversee Work Experience, Credentialing, and Credit for Prior Learning. This area will be led by Interim Dean Matt Morin. In addition to his leadership in work experience, Matt will also be working alongside ACD Dean Jason Chevalier to support this academic and career community. More information on this will be shared by the Office of Instruction in the near future.

Career Services is moving back to Student Services and will be led by Admissions and Records Director Alisha Serrano until the end of the term. 

These realignments are consistent with Chaffey College’s practices to streamline areas to best meet the needs of our students, faculty and staff. The innovation and vision advanced by Dr. Shannon for this will remain strong and focused. We appreciate your support in this transition!
