Celebrating Veterans Day
November 9, 2023
Dear Campus Community,
We are fortunate to have many military veterans among our students, faculty and staff at Chaffey College. This Saturday, we honor them as well as veterans across the country as we celebrate Veterans Day. Chaffey’s campuses will be closed on Friday, November 10 in observance of the holiday.
Veterans Day – originally known as Armistice Day - was first made a legal holiday in 1938 to honor the veterans of World War I. The date signifies the ceasefire following a truce between the Allied nations and Germany, which took place on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
We enjoy freedom today because of the sacrifices made by active and veteran service members, and it is important that we acknowledge and thank them for their service.
To all of our Chaffey service members, we appreciate all you have done for this nation.
Have a restful weekend, Panthers. Regular campus hours will resume on Monday, November 13.
Sincerely,
Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
Superintendent/President
