Reflecting on Sacrifice and Service this Memorial Day

May 24, 2024

As we approach Memorial Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this important day and share ways that we, as a college community, can honor it together.

Memorial Day is a time of remembrance and gratitude for the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces. We honor their bravery, commitment and the profound impact they have had on our nation's history and our lives.

Here are a few ways you can honor our fallen service members:

  • Attend a local Memorial Day ceremony or event, such as those happening in Rancho CucamongaChino and Montclair
  • Join the national moment of remembrance at 3 p.m. on Monday by observing a moment of silence
  • Consider volunteering for organizations that support veterans and military families
  • Take time to learn about the history of Memorial Day

We thank all of our Chaffey College military veterans for their service as well. In observance of Memorial Day, all Chaffey campuses will be closed on Monday, May 27. We will resume normal schedules on Tuesday, May 28.

Have a relaxing, long weekend, Panthers!

Sincerely,

Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
