Celebrating and honoring our Veterans
November 5, 2024
Dear Campus Community,
At Chaffey College, we are grateful for the service of our military veterans and are proud to support their academic and career journeys. Home to 162 veterans of the armed forces, our Veterans Services department provides robust support and events to assist our veterans’ transition from military life to student life.
The recent return in observance of Veterans Day to November 11 preserves the historical significance of the date, the conclusion of World War I, formerly known as Armistice Day. That date reflects both a somber moment to recognize and honor those who willingly offered service and sacrifice to a grateful nation, and it reflects a fervent desire to envision the possibility of ending all wars.
In gratitude, we celebrate the tremendous sacrifice of our veterans and encourage participation in the programming that Veterans Services has planned for the week leading up to Veterans Day.
Events include:
- November 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Understanding the Veteran Student Experience – Zoom
- November 6 from 10 a.m. to noon – Donuts and Coffee with a certifying official – Veterans Services
- November 9 at 1 and 3 p.m. – All military veterans from the community who show military ID receive free admission to the men’s and women’s basketball games on campus. Home games are free for students (please bring student ID) and employees.
All Chaffey campuses will be closed on Monday November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Regular campus schedules will resume on Tuesday November 12.
