Basic Skills Initiative
The Basic Skills Initiative (BSI) launched in 2006 as a grant-funded initiative from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office as part of the strategic planning process. The goal of the BSI is to improve student access and success. The project addresses credit and noncredit basic skills as well as adult education and programs designed to help underprepared students.
Chaffey College remains committed to this initiative and others so that all students can receive a quality education, especially those who are historically underserved and underrepresented. Chaffey College strives to improve:
- Access to college
- Course completion
- English as a Second Language and basic skills completion
- Degree and certificate completion
- Rates of transfer
