GARRETT KENEHAN: My
name is Garrett Kenehan.
And I'm the Interim
Dean of the School
of Science and Mathematics
here at Chaffey College.
And that is very closely aligned
with the academic and career
community of Science,
Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics or STEM.
STEM academic and career
community is very much
focused on scientific careers.
We have Biology, Chemistry,
Mathematics, Physics,
Engineering, Computer Science.
NICK CHARLAND: My
name is Nick Charland.
I'm an Engineering major.
And I chose engineering
because I really
enjoy taking things apart
and seeing how they work
and just understanding
mechanical systems on a deeper
basis.
GARRETT KENEHAN:
The STEM community
has a dedicated Success
Center to help you along.
We are still very much
a hands on institution.
We have lots of resources.
Labs are available.
We have a planetarium.
NICK CHARLAND: Chaffey
has given me the pathway.
Coming here has given me the
ability to see what I'm good at
and what I like to do.
GARRETT KENEHAN: Collaboration
is so much better
to solve problems,
working with others
in the academic and
career community
and being of that
like mindedness
helps everyone
achieve more than they
could have done individually.
NICK CHARLAND: The
community here is amazing.
It's super helpful to
be able to communicate
with your peers and
your professors.
That's going to help you
develop that interest
and even find new things
that you might enjoy.
I started off with
a geology degree
and through that I have found
the E, which is engineering
to be a newfound love of mine.
GARRETT KENEHAN: We at Chaffey.
Have an extremely high transfer.
Rate you could pretty
much go anywhere,
from your preparation
at Chaffey and know
that you're going
to be well prepared
in your bachelor's degree.
After four years, you
should be prepared
to actually do work in
laboratory settings,
helping out scientists
that are actually working
on cutting edge research.
NICK CHARLAND:
Yeah, I would love
to work towards something where
I'm developing a product that
is giving people
enjoyment or helping them
be more comfortable when they're
out doing what they love to do.
GARRETT KENEHAN: So if you
are a student that is really
driven to know the
answers to things
and large questions
and scientific process,
then you might be interested
in this learning community
to explore those things and
start your foundation to really
dive deeply into
getting those answers.
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics community will provide you with
intellectual challenges that allow you to develop strong problem solving skills. Through
this community you will develop skills in research, data analysis, and scientific
investigation. This community (pathway) prepares you for a future with certificates,
degrees, transfer, and careers within science, engineering, mathematics, medicine,
and computer science.

Coordinators
Coordinators are faculty leaders who are vital to ensuring students have the best
experience possible while taking classes at Chaffey College. Coordinators help to
mediate any concerns that you might have and can connect you with your instructor
or the dean’s office. They can answer questions or concerns about your classes, and
refer you to resources related to your academic experience. Email is the best way
to reach them:
